Directors' Song (written by Yvonne King)

(sung by Robyn, Janzell, Yvonne, Judy & Candice to cast, crew and their families at the Cast Party on 5/19/12)

We got the scripts and then the cast with music so sublime.
And nest we got the soloist with voices so divine.
Our costumes, so authentic, and the scenery so real,
We thought that we were singing in the Abby.

We climbed the Alps with the Von Trapps and loved to hear them sing.
And even when the Nazis came, we felt a little sting.
But through it all we loved our show and all who had a part.
And never, ever once did we feel crabby!

INTERLUDE:  (Sung to JUDY HUT without her knowing we were going to do it).

(spoken)  We'd like to say a word about Sister Hut!
                            Judy's above the cut!!

(Sung)    How do you find a way to just say, "Thank You"?
How do we let you know that you're the best?
How do you find a word that means director?
A timeless, and inspireist, who's the best.
Many a thing you know you'd like to tell her.
Many a thing she ought to understand.
But how do you make her stay and listen to all you say?
How do you praise the leader of our band?
How do you fine a word that means director?
How do you hold perfection in your hand?

Rehearsals came and time did pass, at times we felt aghast!
Especially when Performances were coming on so fast!
Our children in the chorus, Oh so innocent and sweet,
Provided for our show a special tr-eat!

But now our show is over and our lives are so routine,
But memories of what we did still stay within our dreams.
To each of you we give our thanks for every job well done.
(Spoken) Good Bye, Adieu, Aufwiedersehen, AuRevoir,  to you and you and you!

Yvonne's Poem

DO - a door we all walked through, to meet and greet some friends anew.
RE - The raves each one of us received and no one was omitted and no one was deceived.
ME - A name we called our selves - no fuss!  But we preferred, as time went by, to simply call ourselves as "US".
FA - The road we traveled down to make our show exactly right!  And at the end we found our guests, enjoyed with pure delight!
SO - The sewing was a  task that Alisa and Erin took on, that left the audience in awe and for our seamstress's a job well done.
LA - Is for the laughter, the love and loud applause, that made us oh so satisfied, even with some flaws!
TI - Is for the time and tireless hours spent, By our talented directors for this glorious event.

Now, let's go on and start again, but not with DO -RE -ME!  Let's see what we can do with the letters of ABC!

A - is for our actors ,each one a pure delight!  They kept our show so powerful, every day and night!
B - is for BEN TUTOR, who took upon the chore, Of scenery and set design, who could ask for anything more?
C- is for CANDICE, blessed with talent galore.  To work with her is joyful, and oh so much, much more.
C - is also for the chorus, provided by the children.  Laughs, and songs and smiles -- worth more than many millions.
D - is for the directors -- JUDY,  JANZELL and CANDICE -- so totally efficient, made our show so much, much more than simply just sufficient.
D - is also for Dorene and Dan, who ran the Von Trapp house.  Dorene was oh so very sweet -- but Dan became a Nazi grouse!
E - is for exhaustion, experienced by all.  But each one kept on going and declined to crawl or fall.
F - is for new friendships we were privileged to know, and over time, we hope, our  friendship will continue to grow.
G - is for the Germans who attitudes were tough.  Aren't we glad that we don't deal today with that kind of stuff?
H - is for Herr Zeller and also Herr Von Schreiber.  Our thanks to both of you, because you both are so much nicer.
I -  is for the incident that might be called a boner!  Like the lad who lost his shirt --- OH MY!  Could it have been Jonah?
J -  is for JUDY -- a real work and a wonder.  How she did it all, makes us gratefully ponder.
J -  is also for JANZELL - what a talent, what a voice.  To work with her gives one reason to happily rejoice.
K -  is for the kindness for the Relief Societys of each ward.  who fed us at our rehearsals, may they gain a great reward.
L -  is for the lovers -- for Ali and Drew - how could you miss?  And what about that scene that ended with a kiss!
M - is for Maria - a voice so sweet and true.  A part played to perfecton by APRIL, and never missed a cue.
M - is also for MATT, or MAX or whatever name you call him.  He's mighty, majestic and masterful or any other synonym.
N - is for the nuns (and postulants) so sweet and very innocent.  And Robin's "Climb Every Mountain" was truly so omnificent.
O - is for the orchestra, John's talents were apparent.  Of course we know, they were probably inherent.
O - is also for Cory and Eli, your drum and bass at time, helped to make our orchestra superb and more than prime.
P - is for our pianists, each performance they did shine.  Each song they played made each number so real and so divine.
Q - is for the quality of our show that was A number one.  With music, acting and livley groups that we all enjoyed the fun.
R - is for Robin, our Choreographer who has always loved to dance.  And she taught so very perfect there was nothing left to chance.
S - is for the stage manager - a person perfect for the job.  As GERRI COOMBS directed and helped the stage crew mob.
S - is also for the sound techs, a very trying call.  But all went well as Leon and John performed their where with all.
T - is for the talent each one of you were blessed with.  Please share it in your life to come is our desired wish.
U - is for united, we became as cast and crew, and as directors and leaders we came to love each one of you.
V - is for the Von Trapp children, a family so sweet and fair.  Their voices were so beautiful and there are none who can compare.
W - is for WADE -- a stiff and rigid father.  Who changed much for the better as his family he did gather.
X - is for the extras who donated energy and time, in painting, cosmetology, publicity and lighting so sublime.
Y - is for the Young Women who in the nursery tended - the children of the cast members until rehearsal ended.
Z - is for the zeal each person professionally portrayed.  Whether acting, singing or dancing, you truly made the grade.
Directing, music, stage crew, scenery or props.  Everyone was always there and never thought to stop.
We know each one of you was more than just an implement and we as directors know,  you deserve the  greatest compliment.
Well now our show is over and our lives are so routine, but memories of what we did will stay within our dreams.
To each of you we give our thanks for every job well done.  Good-bye, Au Revoir, Adieu and Auf Wiederschen to you, and you and you.

Loose Ends

Thanks everyone for a great party!  We will be posting Yvonne's song and poem on the blog later if you didn't get a chance to hear it.  Any valuable looking Lost & Found items are now in the Millstream/Ridgedale building's library's Lost & Found, so if you want to check it out you'll have to arrange to visit during their library hours.

Candice will be finishing the photo CD and the video.  You can purchase them for $2 each.  If you have any questions about this, please contact her.

I'm sad to see it all end, but happy for the lifelong friendships made.  I know our paths won't cross as frequently, but we will always be connected by this great experience!  Thank you everyone!

Cast Party Details

I hope you've all had a chance for some R&R and are ready to get together for our SOUND OF MUSIC Cast Party!  As you're probably all aware, it will be held this Friday at 7 p.m. at the Millstream/Ridgedale building.  Please feel free to bring your immediate family.  RSVP required -- please email me (Judy)  if you are coming and how many people you plan to bring.  I need a final count by THURSDAY night.

We do need your help!  We will be having a POTLUCK DESSERT BUFFET and would like everyone to pitch in.  We just want it to be simple for everyone, so we'd like each family/individual to bring 1 - 2 dozen of their favorite baked treat.  I was going to make assignments, but I don't have the energy. ;)  Just try to be a little creative so we don't have 1,000 brownies!

If anyone can help set up tables and chairs on Thursday night at 8 p.m., please meet us over at the Millstream/Ridgedale building.

HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!
